• Waris Ahmad Faizi - Class of 2024. Waris Ahmad Faizi, a 2024 graduate of the Sociology Department, is currently a second-year PhD student in Sociology at Virginia Tech. His research interests include economic sociology, digital sociology, computational social science, and international development. He is also an Erasmus+ and DAAD scholar, reflecting his strong engagement with international academic opportunities. Waris’s academic journey demonstrates the strong foundation that a degree in Sociology can provide for advanced research and an international academic career.

 

• Zulaika Ubysheva - Class of 2018. Zulaika Ubysheva, a 2018 graduate of the Sociology Department, has built an international career in fraud analysis and risk management. She currently works as a Fraud Analyst at Expedia and is based in Prague, Czech Republic. Her career demonstrates how a background in Sociology can provide valuable analytical and research skills applicable to data analysis, fraud prevention, risk management, and the international business sector. We are proud to see Zulaika applying the skills gained through Sociology to a successful international career.
